The first baby turtle has been born in Australia, a baby named after the Pacific Islands, with the arrival of the baby turtle from the US.
The first recorded birth of a baby in Australia occurred in February 2018.
The Australian Zoo said that a baby female was born at the Zoo on Saturday.
Auckland Zoo officials said that the baby had a heart condition and was born with a hole in her shell.
“The baby turtle is a wonderful addition to the Auckland Zoo’s baby collection,” the zoo said.
“We are excited to welcome this special baby to our beloved Auckland Zoo and are very proud of her.”
Her arrival is exciting for the animals, staff and visitors to the Zoo.
“The baby has been named Ayla.
